The University of Latvia currently, with its more than 15 000 students, 13 faculties and 19 research institutes and independent study centres, is one of the largest comprehensive and leading research universities in the Baltics and is recognized amongst other European universities. The University offers more than 150 state accredited academic and professional study programmes with its scientific potential providing contribution into the Latvian national economy and sustainable development of the society.
The University of Latvia, offers an academic studies in humanities, pedagogy, social sciences (economics, communication studies, psychology, law, management etc.), natural sciences (biology, physics, geography, geology, chemistry, mathematics, environmental science etc.), and health sciences (pharmacy, nursing) and medicine. Chemistry Bachelor program and Chemistry Master program are awarded the quality labelling of ECTNA “Chemistry Eurobachelor” and “Chemistry Euromaster”.
At the University of Latvia, research is conducted in over 50 research fields. Every year university scientists are involved in more than 900 projects. Today the University focuses on matters and challenges like knowledge spillover effects and commercialization of scientific findings and science communication.
